SUMMARY:ArtTech Forum 2020
DESCRIPTION:The 4th edition of the ArtTech Forum will focus on how to promote and live arts and culture in the post-covid era.\nGiven this exceptional year\, the Forum embraces with a digital platform created with our partner\, ETH Zurich. We are also keen to maintain the sense of belonging that is key for our community. This new approach to ArtTech aims to encourage not only networking\, but also active participation.\nThe program will include keynote speeches\, roundtable discussions\, and parallel sessions enabling participants to rethink how we both produce and access culture. Our speakers will include representatives of prestigious international organizations from diverse backgrounds.\nDemonstrating that digital does not have to mean passive\, our new platform gives participants the opportunity to take part in smaller breakout group sessions and fully contribute to the proceedings.\nWe will also award the 4th ArtTech Prize to one of the 8 innovative startups selected by an international jury. Startup companies will pitch online prior the event\, but will participate in “real-time” for Q & A scheduled for 5th November 2020.\nWhile this year will be a little different\, we anticipate an opportunity to broaden the ArtTech audience.

SUMMARY:#ArtProject2020 Vancouver Biennale Art + Tech Expo
DESCRIPTION:From November 11th to 15th\, the Vancouver Biennale will host #ArtProject2020\, a virtual art and technology expo exploring digital art and the newest technologies shifting the art world. This event is free to attend and those without previous exposure to the field will benefit most – everyone is welcome. #ArtProject2020 will be the Vancouver Biennale’s first display of tokenized art\, which is powered by blockchain technology and has redefined digital artwork ownership. This fun-filled\, educational\, hands-on expo will feature panel discussions\, workshops\, and gamified activities including a crypt-puzzle\, digital art battle live\, and virtual gallery tours. To reserve a spot and see the complete speaker list and schedule\, visit www.artproject.io. Trilingual programming in English\, Spanish\, and Chinese will be available. \n\nWhile the expo will be exclusively online and open to a global audience\, it is anchored by a future physical installation by New York based Colombian artist Jessica Angel. Cleverly titled Voxel Bridge\, this public artwork will transform the area underneath Vancouver’s Cambie Street Bridge into an immersive experience to transport visitors between physical and digital worlds. The installation will take place in Spring 2021\, pending official health advisories. In the meantime\, #ArtProject2020 will be a unique opportunity to preview and engage with key ideas that inspired Angel’s vision to build a digital port at the centre of Vancouver.

SUMMARY:The Taste Of Art
DESCRIPTION:It has long been an accepted belief that a museum is a temple of art. These days\, however\, priorities of museums have shifted from storing exhibits and expanding their collections to attracting the attention of various audiences.\nIncreasingly more often\, museums seek to become cultural institutions of interest. In their turn\, additional museum services\, such as cafes and restaurants play an important role in positioning the museum as an accessible place for family recreation\, meetings of friends and business negotiations.\nIt is an obvious fact that cafes and restaurants in museums help these institutions gain additional profits. However\, do these structural subdivisions of the museum serve not only the commercial but also the representative function? Are cafes and restaurants in museums only places for museum visitors to have a quick snack\, or can they serve as independent recreation spaces? Should cafes and restaurants in museums be incorporated into museum expositions? Do museum restaurants and cafes also possess some specific features?

SUMMARY:Crossover collaboration 101: Understanding China’s latest business craze
DESCRIPTION:In China\, collaborating with companies from totally disconnected industries has recently become a must. While this is nothing new for global fashion brands\, other industries now use these crossover collaborations to bring a sense of novelty and uniqueness to their products. In this webinar\, we will thus take a peek at this unique strategy\, study its best approaches and showcase inspiring case studies.\nIn recent years\, Chinese crossover collaborations exploded as the market became increasingly dynamic through innovative concepts across many industries. This can be linked to China State Council’s 2014 announcement of the “Plan of Action for Strengthening the Implementation of National Intellectual Property Rights Strategies”\, which laid out policies for improving IP-related laws to strengthen the creation\, operation\, and protection of intellectual property by the year 2020.\nBy using their products to collaborate with other brands’ and industries’ intellectual properties\, companies can refresh their positioning and expand their reach towards a new target audience. This approach appeals particularly to post-90s and post-00s generations\, who are increasingly becoming the most attractive consumer group in today’s China.\nLooking at the nowadays collaboration scene\, we see that beauty brands lead the way but other industries are making efforts too. Leading collaborations vary from museums to video games\, from bubble teas to top livestreamers amongst many. In most cases\, both brands manage to gain fame and conversions\, amongst other benefits\, creating a win-win situation. During this session\, we’ll thus explore the advantages of crossover collaborations\, highlight how to leverage this approach and review inspiring examples from the market’s best players.

SUMMARY:Discussions on Transforming Museum Experience
DESCRIPTION:Join Cooper Hewitt for an interactive session on Transforming Museum Experience. Participants will explore topics related to the design of a museum experience\, thoughts on how and why it should transform\, and share ideas for how we might work to bring about the kind of transformation we seek collectively. \nThe format of the program is made up almost entirely of small group discussions based on prompts generated by an interdisciplinary working group made up of sixteen museum professionals doing progressive work across visitor-experience facing roles. Convened by the Interaction Lab thanks to the generous support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation\, this working group will publish a toolkit in early 2021 that will contain thoughts and ideas on designing transformative museum experiences\, useful tools and approaches from our own areas of practice\, and tactics to help drive this work forward within institutions.

SUMMARY:Cities & Museums Webinar Forum - 4th Session
DESCRIPTION:The creation of social and economic networks for the cultural and artistic establishment in times of crisis\nGiven the reduction in public subsidies\, it is necessary for civil society to get involved and participate in the conservation\, research and dissemination of artistic heritage\, as well as in its production. We are interested in knowing the different formulas and approaches adopted by both public and private museums in Spain and beyond. Museums and cultural centers have the opportunity\, in this digital era\, to intensify the provision of services to the artistic sector and society\, both to local and global audiences\, and even to redefine their functions\, mission and vision.
