SUMMARY:The Future of the Blockbuster: A Need for Change?
DESCRIPTION:In this forum\, panellists will consider whether\, when the pandemic ebbs\, they expect and would welcome a return of these large-scale exhibitions. Or whether they think that the current Covid-related limitations – and the demands for greater focus on social justice and concern for the environment – require a reconsideration of institutional purpose\, financial models\, and audience needs. Is an imaginative focus on permanent collections and local audiences the path ahead for some institutions and\, if so\, will audiences and critics shift their expectations accordingly? How best are the interests of knowledge generation served? Is there an opportunity for a greater sharing of resources and expertise across the sector? Will a digital offering need to be re-evaluated as more than a secondary alternative\, particularly if audiences remain reluctant to travel?

SUMMARY:Expanded Formats | Reimagining Art Economies Online
DESCRIPTION:During this interactive event\, Lucy Rose Sollitt and Jo Townshend convene a panel of experts working in the field of art and technology to consider:\nWhat if approaches to selling and experiencing art online were based on a deeper understanding of the artistic possibilities and politics of technologies? Might alternatives to dominant economies be revealed?\nTogether we will consider a range of models and ideas imagined by artists\, thinkers\, critical technologists working with and reflecting on networked technologies. From blockchain enabling alternative models for selling and supporting creation of born digital artworks\, to curated content and art based on Web 1.0 principles. It will explore whether such approaches offer viable alternatives for generating sales while freeing art from dominant market dynamics. And reflect on which perspectives could anticipate future artistic economies.\n–\nThis event will take place via Zoom. A link to join the event will be sent to you shortly.

SUMMARY:Reimagining Museums and Libraries post COVID
DESCRIPTION:Inspiring the Digital Landscape of Libraries and Museums\nWe’re all aware of the enormous impact COVID-19 has had in all aspects of our lives. This is also a pivotal moment for Libraries and Museums globally as we deal with issues of financial resilience and finding new ways to engage with our audiences. At Microsoft\, Satya Nadella talks about the three “Rs” – respond\, reopen and reimagine. If we consider the silver lining in this tragedy\, this is a pivotal opportunity for change. Not change for the sake of change\, rather change to expand our ability to achieve our organizational missions. We may well look back on this as a transformational moment in the history of Museums and Libraries globally.\nThe second in our series of webinars discusses the reimagine opportunities arising from COVID-19. We’ll host discussions with three leaders in Libraries\, Museums and Microsoft Education on the opportunities they anticipate.\nPresented by\nCatherine Devine | Global Business Strategy Leader – Libraries & Museums\, Microsoft\nCatherine leads strategy for Libraries and Museums within Microsoft’s Education division.
