SUMMARY:The Literoom Summit 2021
DESCRIPTION:The Literoom is a think tank\, an incubator\, and an accelerator – an open association based in Basel\, Switzerland\, the home of several world class art institutions and the centre of the art world for one week each year thanks to Art Basel. The association was founded in late 2020 by five individuals with the same goal: to create a catalyst for digital innovation in the art sector.\nFor the very first time\, we will be providing a platform to listen to what the art industry needs. With this inaugural event\, we’d like to start a discussion and facilitate the connection between the art industry and tech entrepreneurs and thereby hopefully create positive momentum for an entire industry.

Technological advances and their transformative potential.\nThe aim of this webinar is to debate the relationship between citizens and the culture and art through the museum and other cultural organizations. SUMMARY:Digital Skills for Libraries – Deepening Online Engagement with Audiences
DESCRIPTION:It has become more apparent than ever that library services play a pivotal role in the lives of their communities. With many library services and buildings serving as a space where people can connect and learn with others\, the effects of localised and national lockdowns have caused a number of library service users to experience feelings of isolation and loneliness.\nIn our ‘Digital skills for libraries’ webinar series\, the Digital Culture Network will look at key tools and strategies to support library organisations who have taken some of their services online and are engaging with their communities digitally whilst their buildings are closed\, or access is restricted. Watch the first webinar which focused on creating & delivering online content.\nOur second session looks at ‘Deepening online engagement with audiences’\, where we will explore how libraries have been reaching their communities and share tips to increase engagement with digital services and artistic programmes.

SUMMARY:Unpacking the Toolkit: In Conversation With the Authors of "Tools and Approaches for Transforming Museum Experience"
DESCRIPTION:The practical\, financial\, and social impacts of the coronavirus alongside a national reckoning with racial injustice has increased the urgency to address why\, how\, and for whom museums exist in the 21st century. For museum professionals\, this pivotal question raises another: how might we transform our collective approach to designing museum experiences to better reflect the communities we serve?\nJoin Cooper Hewitt\, Smithsonian Design Museum’s Interaction Lab for the release of Tools and Approaches for Transforming Museum Experience\, a toolkit that contributes to this critically important conversation. The toolkit was co-authored by 15 museum professionals\, who were convened by the Interaction Lab in Fall 2020 thanks to the support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. In their current roles\, the co-authors represent diverse perspectives from across visitor experience including: curatorial\, education\, audience research\, programming and public engagement\, visitor services\, exhibition design\, digital\, and accessibility.

SUMMARY:Connected to Culture LIVE: Online Creativity and Safety with Young People
DESCRIPTION:Engagement in arts and culture supports young people’s social development and wellbeing\, but for many organisations responding to the pandemic has meant quickly adapting offline activities to online\, creating new digital programmes and engaging and communicating with young people digitally. This new digital landscape presents many opportunities for young people to express themselves and engage creatively\, but also presents challenges around safety and protection. In this session we will explore lessons learnt and how in a new digital climate we can find balance between protection\, safety and participation.\nWe will discuss challenges around supporting expression and meaningful engagement while also keeping young people safe online\, particularly at a time when they continue to be physically isolated from teachers\, peers and mentors. We will touch on ways to connect with young people based on where and how they want to engage and hear from organisations that are successfully working with and empowering our future digital leaders and changemakers.\nJoin us for this conversation where we will explore: \n\nRisks and safety online – balancing protection and participation\nEngaging and empowering young people through digital\nLessons learned in 2020 and informing future online spaces
