SUMMARY:Museums and Galleries Responding to the Climate and Ecological Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Following COP26 and the release of NMDC’s report ‘Green Museums: Tackling the Climate Crisis’\, NMDC is convening a conference hosted at the Whitworth\, University of Manchester\, to explore the role of museums and galleries in combatting the climate and ecological crisis.\nMuseums and galleries have a unique perspective as institutions that take a long-term view with their mission to preserve collections and stories for the future. But how can they do so with the existential threat of the climate crisis? How can museums combat climate change and biodiversity loss? The conference will provide a forum to consider two key questions: \n\nWhat can museums do to reduce their environmental impact?\nHow can museums inspire positive action?

SUMMARY:Lawyers for the Arts: NFT Digital Technology – From the Stone Age to the Metaverse: NFTs as Virtual Pathways to Film\, Art\, Music\, Luxury Goods and Legal Practice
DESCRIPTION:The Tampa Museum of Art presents a Lawyers for the Arts program with Art and Law Lawyer Alexandra Darraby. The presentation geared towards lawyers and art enthusiasts will focus on NFTs\, the metaverse\, copyright\, and technology.\nNeither technology nor culture is new nor modern. But entertainment and luxury goods are in a digital ascendance in the form of Non Fungible Tokens. Alexandra Darraby\, founder of the Art Law Firm®\, former gallery owner and law professor\, describes the connectivity of tech and culture based on recent cases shared from her newest book on arts & technology\, excerpted here: “The metaverse is the new virtual and visual frontier\, a user- interactive digital environment based in computer-generated spaces of augmented and virtual realities\, NFTs and cryptocurrency. These are ether worlds in which visual imagery predominates. Virtual reality thus impacts—and challenges–traditional bricks and mortar interactions\, judicial administration and attorney-client engagement. Technology upends categorizing legal claims\, interpreting traditional statutory terms; re-evaluating demographics for litigation and juries\, and impacts the meaning of societal and legal community engagement.”\nJoin legal commentator Alexandra\, author of Darraby on Art Law\, in a program featuring the dynamic impact of NFTs and appropriation on markets\, collections and legal practice\, including Quentin Tarantino and Pulp Fiction\, Andy Warhol and Prince\, Lil Yachty\, heirloom and iconic brands like Hermes\, Patek Philippe\, Cartier and Bulgari\, and more. Presentation includes how and why have NFTs trigger appropriation types of litigation on claims of copyright and trademark infringement\, publicity rights\, unfair competition and how lawyers and law firms might ethically and responsibly advise clients in a climate of rapid change and inconclusive adjudication.

SUMMARY:International Museum Day 2022: The Power of Museums
DESCRIPTION:Museums have the power to transform the world around us.\nAs incomparable places of discovery\, they teach us about our past and open our minds to new ideas — two essential steps in building a better future. On International Museum Day 2022\, which will take place on May 18th\, we want to explore the potential of museums to bring about positive change in their communities through three lenses:\nThe power of achieving sustainability: Museums are strategic partners in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. As key actors in their local communities\, they contribute to a wide variety of Goals\, which include fostering short-circuit and social economy and disseminating scientific information on environmental challenges.\nThe power of innovating on digitalisation and accessibility: Museums have become innovative playing-grounds where new technologies can be developed and applied to everyday life. Digital innovation can make museums more accessible and engaging\, helping audiences understand complex and nuanced concepts.\nThe power of community building through education: Through its collections and programmes\, museums thread a social fabric that is essential in community building. By upholding democratic values and providing life-long learning opportunities to all\, they contribute to shaping an informed and engaged civil society.\nIn this edition of International Museum Day\, we invite you to join thousands of museums around the world in unleashing the power of museums!

SUMMARY:International Symposium of Museums and Cultural Entities: The Museum Revisited
DESCRIPTION:Digital value propositions for cultural organizations in the 21st century: meaning and sustainability. Rethinking cultural organizations as a whole\, their function and interweaving in a society and culture in continuous connection\, is the main purpose of this Symposium.\nThe new cultural and artistic entities can contribute to the development and structuring of our complex and constantly changing society through digital language\, whose contribution to the demands of the moment is extraordinary and still insufficiently exploited. The need to redefine the new functions of museums and the new cultural consumption\, in a context of advanced technologization\, will be once again evidenced by recent experiences of accredited voices on the international scene.
