Coinlive, an independent cryptocurrency news outlet based in Singapore, held its first event of the year on 27 February. Taking place at NTUC Business, Web3 Trends and Forecast 2023 ─ VC Edition delved into the invited speakers’ thoughts on current trends and their forecasts for the year.

Through moderated English and Mandarin roundtable discussions and networking opportunities, participants gained relevant industry-related insights and connected with distinguished VCs, investors, and entrepreneurs.

At Coinlive’s Web3 Trends & Forecast 2023 – VC Edition, the esteemed VC speakers shared their thoughts on current Web3 trends, as well as giving a glimpse into what they forecast for 2023. Speakers included Zhu Fieda, a tenured associate professor at Singapore Management University whose research interests include large-scale privacy-aware collaborative intelligence, decentralized AI governance, blockchain, and data assets and Dora Yue, Founder of OKX Blockdream Ventures which focuses on discoveries and investments in various aspects, including blockchain basic infrastructures, Layer2, DeFi, WEB3.0, NFT, and Metaverse.

With the industry currently rather bullish, the conference outlook was generally positive as to the state of Web3 investment and development. According to the Metaverse 2023 Funding Report, the Web3 landscape saw total funding of $7.1 billion in 2022, a stark contrast to 2021’s $2.3 billion.

As the Web3 space continues to mature, there is a paradigm shift in venture capitalists’ (VCs) approaches despite the rollercoaster ride. It is likely to continue drawing attention as it develops in the coming years.
