Chinese tech giant Tencent Holdings signed an agreement with the Guimet Museum in Paris, France, to provide “comprehensive digital solutions.” The museum is home to one of the largest collections of Asian art outside of Asia. Tencent will reportedly digitize the museum’s collection to reach a broader audience outside of France. The initial digital exhibition is called “National Treasure” and features 25 works from China. The two will collaborate further in the future to provide museum visitors with personalized tour routes and WeChat Pay transactions.
Additionally, Tencent will also help develop digital exhibitions. The success of the cooperation may encourage more French museums (or other museums around the world) to team up with Tencent to showcase their collections through WeChat.
