The inaugural edition of PHOTOFAIRS New York, a contemporary art fair dedicated to photo-based and digital artworks, is slated for September 8-10 at the Javits Center. The event, organized by Creo, will also offer an invitation-only VIP Preview on September 7.
The fair aims to explore the diverse and rapidly evolving practices of image-making and photography. It will showcase everything from modern examples to contemporary intersections with digital art, and even the medium’s next frontiers. Running concurrently with The Armory Show, PHOTOFAIRS New York is set to solidify the first week of September as a pivotal moment in New York’s arts calendar.
The debut edition of PHOTOFAIRS New York will feature a carefully curated selection of 60 exhibitors from around the globe. This includes renowned photography dealers, interdisciplinary contemporary art galleries, and organizations at the cutting edge of emerging technologies. The exhibitors were handpicked by a selection committee comprising representatives from ROLF ART, Buenos Aires; TERN Gallery, Nassau; Fahey/Klein Gallery, Los Angeles; and Gagosian, New York & 19 cities worldwide. The selection process was conducted in collaboration with PHOTOFAIRS New York Director, Helen Toomer.

The fair will serve as a platform for several galleries to make their debut to New York audiences. These include ART IS BOND. (Houston), 193 Gallery (Paris), Gaotai Gallery (Xinjiang), Les filles du calvaire (Paris), McBride Contemporain (Montreal), Shun Art Gallery (Tokyo), and Troconi-Letayf & Campbell (Mexico City). These newcomers will join a roster of celebrated local and national exhibitors, as well as fair partners, showcasing their artists and programs at the epicenter of the global market for photography and contemporary art.
In addition to the booth presentations, PHOTOFAIRS New York will feature an array of special projects, innovative large-scale installations, and publishing projects. These will be presented by programming partners that represent a broad spectrum of image-making and global perspectives, including Baxter St at the Camera Club of New York, Fotografiska, Gagosian Quarterly, and Jamaica Art Society.
