Sotheby’s is set to host the “Natively Digital: Oddly Satisfying” auction, featuring 66 NFT pieces inspired by the popular internet phenomenon of “oddly satisfying” videos that originated on Reddit. The auction, taking place from March 17-24, will include works from prominent NFT artists like Beeple and will be held both in Paris and the metaverse. This marks Sotheby’s first “Natively Digital” auction in Paris and its first NFT auction held simultaneously in the metaverse.

The digital Sotheby’s auction house has been created in RLTY World, a private metaverse platform for brands and Web3 communities that support NFT assets. Startup RLTY, which raised over $4 million in 2022, will also feature panels, keynote speeches from Paris Blockchain Week, and a virtual Web3 job fair on its platform.

Following the “Oddly Satisfying” auction, Sotheby’s will host the “Natively Digital: Glitch-ism” sale from March 24-31 in New York, showcasing an array of NFT glitch art pieces. The sale includes Ethereum NFT artwork from well-known artists such as XCOPY and JakNFT.

Michael Bouhanna, Sotheby’s Head of Digital Art and NFTs, described the sales as reflecting the pervasive influence of digital culture, highlighting the evolving relationship between humanity and technology.
