The Mostly Mozart Festival will return to Lincoln Center this summer with an extensive lineup that covers symphony, dance, opera, and theatre. A major highlight: China’s Yang Liping Contemporary Dance will showcase the U.S. premiere of Under Siege, featuring scenic design by Oscar winner Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Running August 8–10 at the David H. Koch Theater, the piece — created by renowned dancer and choreographer Yang Liping — portrays the climactic battle between the Chu and Han armies in 202 B.C. using a magical mix of contemporary and folk dance, martial arts and hip-hop paired with Chinese opera and live musicians.
