The Virtual Horizon: What virtual environments hold for cultural institutions

May 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Virtual environments have existed since the early 2000s, but in the past few years, cultural institutions have stepped up efforts to establish their own virtual presences. From Occupy White Walls to Minecraft, these virtual worlds offer museums new opportunities to platform their programs, engage new audiences, and expand on their digital missions.
In “The Virtual Horizon,” hosted in partnership with The Meeting Place on Spatial, Jing Culture & Commerce is diving into just what these virtual environments hold for cultural organizations. Panelists Kate McGregor, Director of Education at Computer History Museum, Linda Spurdle, Head of Digital for Birmingham Museums Trust, and Benny Or, Co-Founder of The Meeting Place, will be sharing insights into the key considerations and strategies when it comes to launching cultural projects and reaching visitors in the virtual space.
