Giacometti’s Le Nez (The Nose), an exhibition co-sponsored by TRON and the APENFT Foundation, was unveiled on October 10 in Paris. This event marks the first-ever assembly of all editions of Le Nez by Alberto Giacometti, a Swiss surrealist artist of profound national importance. Notably, Justin Sun, the founder of TRON and a distinguished member of the HTX Global Advisory Board, contributed from his personal collection to enrich the exhibition.
Giacometti’s Le Nez, presented in collaboration with TRON and APENFT, brings together the genius of Giacometti and the digital innovation that TRON represents. The exhibition notably features the offline debut of the 1964 version of Le Nez from Sun’s collection, donated by Sun. With over 1 billion yuan in value, Sun’s collection spans globally celebrated artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti, Beeple, and Pak. Several of these pieces have been generously donated to the APENFT Foundation.
The 1964 work Le Nez, acquired by Sun at the 2021 Sotheby’s New York Fall Auction for $78.4 million and later donated to the APENFT Foundation, represents an interesting moment for the art world. While previously displayed in metaverse art galleries and similar platforms, its physical presence in this exhibition offers a rare opportunity for art enthusiasts to closely observe the piece.
The Giacometti Foundation commended Sun’s efforts as a testament to his dedication to protecting physical artworks and bridging the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. TRON and APENFT’s co-organization of this exhibition signifies their commitment to pushing the boundaries of digital art and traditional art fusion. TRON’s sponsorship of $1 million demonstrates their ongoing partnership with the Giacometti Foundation and APENFT, aiming to fund art research and relevant projects. Sun’s prediction that 50% of the world’s top 100 artists and artworks will be recorded as NFTs in the coming decade, along with the potential for blockchain technology to merge traditional and emerging art forms, drives the mission of APENFT. Leveraging TRON’s technology, APENFT serves as a catalyst for the creator economy and an entry point for traditional art maestros into the NFT world.
