Visitors to Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum can explore Chinese ancestral paintings and popular prints at the museum’s original exhibition; “Gods in My Home: Chinese New Year with Ancestor Portraits and Deity Prints.”
Set to run through September 29th, the never-before-seen exhibition showcases works from Royal Ontario Museum’s extensive Chinese relic collection. It aims to present the often-overlooked similarities between familial paintings and traditional prints by placing them within the context of Chinese New Year.
The popular Canadian institution attracts more than a million visitors annually and boasts a world-class collection of Chinese relics ranging from Zhou Dynasty bronzes to a comprehensive collection of Chinese coins. To accommodate the increasing number of Chinese visitors, the museum provides Chinese sightseers maps and offers assistance through the Department of Museum Volunteer Visitor Guides at the main entry information desk.
Exhibition entry is free with museum admission. In addition, tours are offered by trained volunteer docents Monday to Friday at 1:30 p.m.
